I also saw that... at first glance.. the suspension and the tracks are for an M4.. not a standard period specific M3.. I understand that the later versions did share the suspension and tracks with the M4.. the later versions also no longer had the Hull Sponson side hatch.. so one would have to do the tracks and suspension mod.... and unfortunately as much as I would like to get the Grant.. the cost is very high.. I got 2 Lee conversion kits from that Hungarian group... and then I got the Grant conversion kit to make one of the Lees into a Grant... as did a few others with great success,, check some of the other older threads and you will see them.. very impressive... they look great, work well and are accurate. all for less than half than this Grant... One more thing.. don't get me wrong.. I applaud the release of the Grant.. but the cost is excessive.. not to mention shipping which is a deal killer.. If the sponson 75 mm also worked (elevate as well as rotate and maybe gun recoil) and maybe upper turret gun also functioned (elevate).. maybe it would be worth it the cost.. a Sherman by any other name is a Sherman : )

I picked one up last month, its ok but needs some work.

Its also resin, so I'd be wary of getting it shipped trans-Atlantic in the post...

He does the upper hull separately which works out a much better deal.

That is surprising and I am impressed... I just emailed him if I could purchase only the top half... I already have a modded chassis with correct Brit Grant Tracks and M3 suspension.... I'll let you know his response...Joe

Yes I just emailed with them apparently the Sponson 75 does elevate as does the upper turret which rotates... the 75 will the standard BB Tank Recoil... they sent me a link to their site and I can purchase only the top half and the glaces plate... so I am convinced... I will be ordering it after I finish this... I do question the Shipping cost though..

the Upper half is 110 GBP whoich is fine , but shipping is 99 GBP! I think that is a bit excessive... any thoughts? Joe

Nope that's normal these days. Shipping to the US got stupidly expensive around 2010. Also expect breakages, a lot of the parcels I used to receive tended to look like Ray Guy had kicked them over the Atlantic, and while the resin looks to be very high quality (up to the old Profiline standards), its is rather thin...

There is no motors in the turret, btw - the gun is free to move up and down, but you'll have to prise it open (the two halves look to be glued together) to get an elevation servo or similar device installed in there.

That's not normal, i can ship a full tank to the states for £60 and that's 7-8kg a top should come in much cheaper.

Its based on box size above a certain weight, and the box will be the same size as a regular tank box.

Quick look shows DPD will ship it for about £36 to the states.

Thats for a 40x25x25cm box which should fit it ok.

The box mine came in is 50x35x28cm, but either way its irrelevant - a company (not a private individual) has to charge extra to cover their actual and potential extra costs.
You and I both know a tank business who does not want to ship overseas any more because of his costs...

Depends on the delivery service too. I just shipped a box your way that would fit the bill for this and it was $56.00 CDN but takes 6 to 8 weeks to get there. If I had opted for a 7 to 10 day delivery it was close to $112 and a quick priority 4 day delivery was almost $200! Yikes! and that was for 2.1kg's...

Very true Martin. It just seems a shame when I can get two Sherman conversion kits shipped from the states for about $35

So I got my Grant.. ExPat is correct.. resin does not like the transatlantic trip..., but is all sorted out now.. and yes it does need some work, but overall it's pretty good.. and I'm happy to have it..

I have a question.. I have one of those Lee Conversion kits from Hungary... if any of you out there also have one.. am I wrong when I say that I think the Lee Turret is a bit Tall? It just looks funny..

anybody have any thoughts on this? depending on the answer I will either be building an early Lee or building an M3 recovery vehicle or selling it....Thanks, Joe

I cut away the lower lip on my Lee's turret - makes it sit a little lower. Also having compared it with the Grant, I suspect the turret may be a bit too small in diameter which would skew the perceived height.

I agree with both points... I saw a Russian knock-off on ebay and they widened the diameter of the turret a bit.. Looks like that may be the solution.... Thanks again, Joe

Once you've cut it down it doesn't look too bad, so long as you don't park it next to the Grant - At that point my mind can't decide if the Grant's turret is too big, or the Lee's to small...

Dig That.. The Grant Turret looks to be over-achieving as much as the Lee looks to be under-achieving....I have one of Woz's Grant Turrets and it is a tad smaller than the Grant from the UK.... I like Warren's turret better.. I might end up doing a turret transplant... Joe

I agree, the Grant turret from U.K. is too big...
