Default RC Flying STIK Brotherhood!!

I see all these Aircraft Brotherhoods on here, but I don't see one of the most popular type of rc air frame flown and owned... The Stick, in all it's versions Ugly, Das, Big, Ultra, Homemade, Kit, Generic, etc.... I myself fly a generic stick arf that uses rubber bands to hold the wing to the fuse...

So if there is no Stick Brotherhood yet in these forums, I'll be Numero UNO ,

Ronny

Count me in. Airplanes come and go, but there is always a Stick in my hangar. Usually I scratch build them, but I have had Ugly Sticks, Sweet Sticks, and a couple of Ultra Stick ARFs.

"Stik", if you please. Phil Kraft dropped the "c" for distinction.

And I don't think you get to be anyone's brother just because of what you buy. ;-)

I lost mine in my only ever mid-air. Since then I have flown many stik-like models but not the original pattern. Might be time to change that.

Years ago I was at a mall show static display and a mall-walker college girl started up one side of me and down the other for displaying "Nazi hate symbols". I finally figured out it was the Ugly Stik that she was ranting about. Whether it did any god or not I tried to explain the difference between a Cross Pattèe and a sawstika and the time-line difference between WWI and WWII.

I was happy to point out a Stuka nearby and told her that was historically authentic, represented an aircraft that was from the Nazi period, and the markings were part of history whether they were her politics or not. Someone has to remember the facts and not just the emotions.

Actually putting an electric motor on it! Going for a tail dragger with 5 inch Dubro Inflatables so I can try to take off and land on sand.

The Stik Brotherhood is growing. It should be one of the largest groups, as most everyone I know who flies; has a Stik in their hangar

Stiks are great. I will always have at least one in my hanger ready to go at all times. I bought a Great Planes Big Stik 40 used and it has been one of my favorite planes. I have used a bunch of different engines on it: K&B .61, Fox Eagle I, Tower .75, ST .61, K&B Sportster .65. I have also enlarged the RCM Liddle Stik plans to .40 size and it flies great with a ST .40.

I've got the GP Giant Stik with a DLE 30. Was my first gasser. I love the way it flys, Just like a Stik! Landing are fantastic....just line it up and let it sink to the runway.

I will always have a stik in the hanger. It was the first 'full house' plane I soloed. Still have the plane some 30 years later. I am currently building my 4th stik.

I had a rudder servo glitch on take-off with my much campaigned Mentor-G with Zenoah 26ccM and am now looking for a simple ARF sport model for general fun sport and float flying and to bolt the smoke gear on (adds about 24 oz fueled up). The Giant Big Stik (why not just "Giant Stik?") is the front-runner. Just enough damage from a cart-wheel that the airframe is well crunched but all the components are transferable - except for the twitching and wandering rudder servo.

I had the G.P. Big Stik in .60 and it was one of my favorites. My only mid-air. *sigh*

Anyone float-flying the Giant Big Stik? Are the rear external servos a problem?

This one's pretty funny. Take a closer look at the Hobby King/Durafly Das Ugly Stik.

Dummy glow engine for looks.

I'm looking into building one of these from plans. I found a set on #bay. The wing is 67.5 inches and it says the 4 stroke engine range is 80 to 1.20. That seams like a big engine for a plane this size. Does it need an engine that big? I don't want to do 3d with it.

80 4 stroke is like a 52-3ish 2 stroke. So that wouldn't be so bad, but yeah a .60 2 stroke .90 4 stroke would be more than u need for that..

I was thinking a 70 4 stroke would be enough. I have a 72 on a great planes cub and flys well.
